1992 Amateur sphere – MUDr. Karel ŠEFRNA
* 6.9.1939 in Boskovice, Graduate of the School of Medicine, Dentist.
He started out in 1949 with the LD in the CHILDREN’S SCHOOL ENSEMBLE.
He completed courses in a number of puppet schools organized at the time by UDLUT, then the conservatoire with Jan Dvořák (he headed it with him 3 times) and the VC course organized by Jan Merta. In 2001 he rightfully became the 1st bearer of the Prize of the Ministry of Culture of the CR given to non-professional theatres and to literary productions. He is directly involved in all 24 productions Céčko presented in the past 30 years, at 26 Chrudim Puppetry Shows. To list the 15 individual and 11 collective prizes won (for direction, music and acting) would take up too much space. He not only acts in the Céčko, but defines its poetry as composer of stage music, screenwriter and director. The text of the songs are mostly an open commentary developing the action and ideas of the staging. The poetics of the allusions are for him and the entire Céčko typical just like the intelligent humour, the human dimension of the staging, the penetration of music and musically into the production.
“C” Svitavy
The Céčko was founded in 1970 as one of the successors of the Little Stage, e.g. Jitřenka (Morning Star) abroad, in Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Hungary, Marocco, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Austria, in Slovakia and in Spain.
The “C” is during the past fifteen, eighteen years primarily an expression of a certain attitude towards life, a theatrical expression of humanity. This is what marks its way of staying true to type and at the same time not repeating itself. Their specific work is influenced directly or indirectly by the majority of top ensembles and maintains its place at the head of Czech puppetry as a whole.
